Physics 2

Physics 111 (Physics 2) is the second course in a two-course introductory physics sequence designed to provide students with a broad and rigorous foundation in the fundamental principles of physics. Building on the mechanics introduced in Physics 101 (Physics 1), this course emphasizes the study of electricity, magnetism, and selected topics in optics. It begins with electrostatics (Coulomb's law, electric fields, electric potential, conductors and insulators), then electric circuits (capacitance, resistance, current, Kirchhoff's rules, DC and AC energy transfer), and magnetism (magnetic fields, forces on moving charges and currents, electromagnetic induction, transformers, motors, generators). The second part is devoted to wave optics: interference, diffraction, and polarization, with applications to optical instruments, lasers, and communication technologies. Laboratory work and problem-solving sessions help students develop practical skills and connect abstract concepts to everyday technologies.
